Leo Malempré - Portret van Edmund Antrobus ca 1895-1900 - olieverf op paneel - 21,5 x 16 cm - gesigneerd

His father Louis-Auguste Malempré (1820-1888) was a French sculptor who spent most of his life in London (1848-1879) and exhibited his work frequently at the Royal Academy of Art. He was known for his graceful allegorical figures and fine portraiture. Leo exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1887-1909.

A memorial fountain to Edmund stands in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London. With these words: "In loving memory of Lieutenant Edmund Antrobus of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, only son of Colonel Sir Edmund Antrobus of Amesbury Abbey, Salisbury and Florence his wife who fell on the evening of the 24th October 1914 in a counter attack against the Germans a few hundred yards north of Kruisick east of Ypres."
